Walking in wisdom,
Ephesians 5:14-17 is a neat passage of Scripture may it speak to us.
14
Wherefore he saith, Awake
thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and
Christ shall give thee light.
15
See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
16 Redeeming the time, because
the days are evil.
17
Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
To walk in wisdom
one must be awake, not partially awake but awake, alert! (Note vs. 14)
The awake here is not speaking about
getting saved it is saying that we as believer can be so unawake it is like
being dead. To not be awake would be like walking in the dark! (Verse 15) To
walk in the dark is not real wise, one needs some light.
Redeeming the time,
using the time correctly not just avoiding bad things but doing the good things
with our time, perhaps not just the good but the best things (verse 16)
We are not going to
know the will of God by walking in the dark or as one that is not awake. We
must be walking in the light. (verse 17)
The will of God is
as it relates to becoming a pastor, missionary etc is different for each of us,
what the Lord might have for us to do, but there is one thing as it relates to
the will of God that is the same for all of us that are believers.
That is that we all
be conformed into the image of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Romans
8:28-30
28
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to
them who are the called according to his purpose.
29
¶ For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate
to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among
many brethren.
30
Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called,
them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
Yes, all things
work together for good because the good is that we are being conformed into the
image of God’s Son the Lord Jesus Christ. God is using the situations of our
lives, the good, bad, those that hurt and those that bring us joy to produce in
us the image of His Son.
I pray that each of
us has the desire to be conformed into the image of our Lord Jesus.
2Corinthians
3:18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord,
are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of
the Lord.
Think on this
verse, is it not saying that as we spend time with Him we are being changed
into His image?
Below is a quote
from John Newton
By various maxims,
forms and rules
That
pass for
wisdom in the schools
I south my passions
to restrain
But all my effort
proved in vain
But since my Saviour I have known
My rules are all
reduced to one
To keep my Lord by
faith in view
This strength
supplies and motive too
Hebrews 12:2 begins
with LOOKING UNTO JESUS, seems somewhat simple but my how profound! If we are wise this is what we are
doing!!!!!!!!
